Lunar is an Asian-themed bar that regularly belts out catchy chinese songs at The Cannery, Clarke Quay. Boasting a star-studded array of singers and having played host to numerous international artistes, Lunar sports a remarkable history that defines its position in the nightlife scene. The key concept behind the website is to bring forth the 'live' atmosphere of the bar and let the users feel the vibe of the place without being present physically. This is the first time I am handling the concept, design and programming aspects of the site so there is an extra sense of satifaction upon the completion of the site.
Housed in a 15,000 square feet venue, Lunar is reminiscent of an art gallery with more than 150 pieces of contemporary Chinese pop art showcased amidst the more familiar icons of the Asian culture like goldfish lanterns and handcrafted birdcages. The visual treat is further enhanced by a backdrop of wall to ceiling hand-painted Chrysanthemums and tasteful nude art on the ceiling to tantalize one's eyes. For those who prefer a bit of privacy, enclaves of Shanghai art decor plush and intimate lounges will offer the desired cozy comfort.
